The subject to discuss will be described at the end of this newsletter.

Dear Member,
Once more we are approaching that time of the year when we are all busily preparing for the Christmas festivities, and our Society is no exception.

As usual, we are going to hold our last meeting ont he last Saturday of November, keeping the whole of December free for family and other commitments.

We will try to keep up the tradition of asking you to bring a present for the children of the NEW CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL who every year are very appreciative of our efforts. So please, if you can, bring a small gift for a child, gift wrapped and with a label specifying the age and sex of the child. I wish to emphasize the fact that this is not compulsory!

Another Christmas tradition is to Give our Catering Officer a well deserved rest. Instead we ask you to bring a very small plate of your favourite food for our afternoon tea.

Most of you have responded very speedily to our call for renewal of your subscription, but if there is any of you that have not yet done so, I hope I will year form you in the near future.

FOR YOUR DIARY

EXHIBITIONS

An Exhibition of traditional Chinese paintings in both the boneless and outline style is to open at the

CHINESE CULTURAL CENTRE
Citadel Tower
799 Pacific Highway
Chatswood

From 24th November to 7th December.

Judging by the pictures on the invitation, those of you interested in the outline style will find great inspiration.
Should you wish for more information, please ring the Centre at (02) 9411 3799.

And now, to a very important event for anyone with any interst in the Orient.

The Art Gallery of New South Wales has organized a magnificent exhibition called

BUDDHA: RADIANT AWAKENING

The Exhibition will run from
10th November to 24th February 2002

The works gathered in this exhibition come from the most famous museums in the world as well as form the great Buddhist sites, such as the celebrated Silk Road.
The number of activities accompanying this exhibition is unlimited. There are talks on all aspects of Buddhism by many local and overseas experts, lunch time talks, guided tours, films, etc.
To enumerate them all would fill many pages, so I suggest that you call the Art Gallery of New South Wales at 9225 1744
or look it up on the internet at

www.buddha.artgallery.nsw.gov.au

And now to our meeting.

Our President, Andrew Lo is just back from a successful trip to Singapore, and as usual is full of bright new ideas.
He will give us a talk on

A) Contemporary methods presenting Works on paper in a portable way.
B) Embossing
C) Painting with fabric inks.

As usual you can look forward to an informative and lively discussion.
He has also suggested that we could form a study group, so if you have any topics you would wish to discuss, be prepared to put them forward at the meeting.

And now it is only left to me to wish you all the best for the Festive Season.

Your Secretary,
Mirra Hainsworth.
