AUSTRALIAN CHINESE PAINTING SOCIETY, INC

NEWSLETTER -- MAY 2005

Volume 15, Issue 3

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Member,

I had high hopes of writing you a long letter telling you all about the trip to Guangzhou, which incidentally was a great success, instead I came back with a dreadful head cold which has kept down for the last 6 day.

However, newsletters have to be written, so here I am with the latest news.

On the first Saturday of this month we started a new experiment. We invited Members to simply come and paint together. I could not attend, being very busy with my departure to China, but those who did told me that it was a great success and I hope that we will be able to keep it up.

If you have missed the last newsletter, the idea is for those interested to turn up at Will's Quills at 2 PM on he first Saturday of the odd months, March, May, July, September and November with your brushes, paints and paper, and a blanket or newspapers and just paint, exchange ideas, and generally have fun. You'd be amazed how inspiring these sessions can be.

Our next meeting will be on 4th June at Will's Quills at 2.30 PM. Over a cup of Chinese tea I managed to talk Fergus Tam into giving us a demonstration. Fergus is a very creative young man whose creativity, like Andrew's, is boundless. I look forward to watch him work and I am sure so you'll be. So try to come.

June is also the month when the renewal of your subscription is due. I will try to be there at 2 PM to give me time to write your receipts.

If you are on the internet and haven't given me your email address, I would like you to do so now. Please send me an email to mirrahai@bigpond.net.au . Our main cost is the postage for the newsletter and emailing it is by far the quickest and cheapest way to do it.

Our off again and on and on again Exhibition is now on. By "our" I mean Maggie, Barbara and myself. The venue is the Headmaster's Gallery, 175 Rosedale Road, St Ives, and the opening will be on Sunday, June19th at 3.00 - 6.00PM. The Exhibition will run to the end of July and as the Gallery is also a Restaurant, you can have an excellent meal there.

I don't have much else to tell you except that I hope to see you all on Saturday, and don't forget to bring your latest work to show and tell.

Your Secretary,

Mirra Hainsworth
