AUSTRALIAN CHINESE PAINTING SOCIETY, INCNEWSLETTER -- MARCH 2005 Volume 15, Issue 2
Dear Member You will be surprised to receive this letter a bit earlier that usual, but we have a few important topics to discuss with you. First of all let me congratulate all those who came to the meeting and enjoyed the discussion on new ways to exhibit our work and future exhibitions. It is rewarding to see so many of you attending - it makes all the efforts all the more worthwhile. Our Exhibition at the Liverpool Art Space was quite successful and we have been invited to participate again. We think it may be at about the time, of the Moon Festival in September of this year. So please get painting ! Our participation at the Gwangzhou was also very successful and we have been invited to exhibit again in another major gallery. A TRIP TO GUANGZHOU. I think it is too late to enter your paintings, but if you would like to join us in a trip to Guangzhou and attend the exhibition as well as meet Chinese Artists and perhaps attend other cultural activities, you would have to pay your own fare which Fergus Tam, the organizer of the trip, assures me, should be under $ 1000.00, for $ 800.00 extra you will have all other expenses covered. There could even be a trip to Beijing, but this has to be confirmed. We would appreciate your early show of interest. Departure from Sydney will be 10th May. YUM CHA. A lot of you showed interest in another Yum Cha so we decided to hold one on Saturday 19th March. The time is 11.30AM at the NORTH RYDE RSL. For bookings and further information please ring Maggie De Courcy at 9878 1530. Our last Yum Cha was well attended and we had lots of fun. Partners are welcomed. On Sunday 20th, Andrew Lo will hold a workshop at Will's Quills. The price is $ 45.00 and it will start at 10.30 AM. Bring brushes, paper and something for lunch. Usually these workshops are great fun. Judging by the number of hands that went up there will be lots of you wanting to attend and I suggest that you book early as we would like to limit the number to ten. Barbara, Maggie and myself will have an exhibition at the Headmaster's Cottage, if you would like an invitation, please get in touch with Maggie or myself. And after all this, it is only left to me to wish you all "happy painting" Your Secretary, Mirra Hainsworth |
