Dear Member,
Our Exhibition has come and gone.
Although there were no sales, judging by the entries in the Guest Book, the Exhibition was well attended. The standard of exhibits was exceptionally high and we were fortunate to be joined by such artists from China as Liu Pu and Shen Mo, as well as many leading local artists.
The opening was a very informal occasion with William Lai as always acting as Master of Ceremony. We were fortunate to have amongst us Helen Sham Ho, until recently a member of the New South Wales Government's Upper House, and she graciously consented to say a few words.
Helen has been a friend of our Society for a long time and we are glad to welcome her as an Honorary Member. We hope we shall see more of her now she has more free time.
Our heart-felt thanks must go to all those who gave of their time to set up and take down the exhibits but especially to our President, Andrew Lo who in spite of his imminent departure for Hong Kong spent a whole afternoon adding the final touches.
We should also thank Chinese Cultural Centre for giving us the opportunity to use their premises.
All round, I think this is an experience many of you will want to repeat.
Our next meeting
will be held on Saturday, 2nd August
At Wills Quills
164 Victoria Avenue, Chastwood
at 2.30 PM
This time we are fortunate to have Mr Nai Linag to give us a demonstration.
Mr Ma is an acclaimed artist with more than 40 years of experience. He is a teacher of Chinese brush painting in the impressionist style, a member of the Australian Chinese Painting Society, executive committee member of the Australian Art Society, Executive committee member, secretary consultant of the Chinese Calligraphy Society and lecturer of the Australian Correspondence College of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy.
We hope many of you will make the effort to come and see his demonstration.
People often ask me if they can bring a friend. Of course we would be
delighted to see new faces. Any visitor is always welcome, we only
ask for a donation to cover the refreshment expenses. This also applies
to the Yam Cha.
