Celebrating Chinese New Year with Art at the Chinese Garden
Our Society’s participation at the City of Sydney Council’s CNY celebration at Chinese Garden of Friendship on 21 Feb 2010 had been a resounding success.
Andrew Lo gave an introductory talk, followed by Joe Ling ‘s demonstration of a tiger painting.
Mirra Hainsworth, Lilian Lai, Joe Ling, Andrew Lo, Anne MacPherson, Tammy Szeto, and Christine Winterbotham, painted Chinese zodiac signs on request by the public. Mike Harty stamped his animal seals on the paintings to give them the finishing touch. Approx 250 paintings were done within the two hours. A mighty effort of the artists!
Andrew closed the event with a painting demonstration of an Australian bush landscape.
Carole Burns, Ian Lai, Jenny Roxburgh, Millie Chong and her daughter helped in the event.
A round of applause to the above mentioned members and a special compliment to Lilian Lai for her superb organizing skills.
