I recently attended a meeting of the “Australian Oriental Calligraphy Society” when Andrew Lo spoke about the contemporary approach to Chinese calligraphy with absolutely stunning results. All photos are now on our webpage, click here to have a look.



Annual General Meeting

Saturday 1st August , 2.00pm at Will’s Quills

Christine Winterbothom is our Election officer. All nominations for office bearers and all election matters should be referred to Christine.

Following our AGM, Mrs CHEN Xiu Ying (born in 1946 in Hebei Province) will give us a demonstration - her Chinese realistic paintings and abstract paintings are full of true love for life and spirit for creation.

Please bring your latest creations for our usual “Show and Tell” session.

To all those who have not yet paid the annual membership fees - a form for your renewal is at the end of this page. Please send it together with your cheque to Daisy as soon as possible. Thanks.

ACPS Library: Lilian will bring a selection of books to our meetings, in her car boot. These can be viewed at 3:45pm on meeting days, and then borrowed.

Dates to put in your diaries

  • 49th Ryde Art Exhibition: 18th - 25th September 2009.
    Entries close on 1st September 2009, forms will be available at our next meeting.
    • COX' S ROAD COMMUNITY HALL
      201 Cox's Road North Ryde 2113
    • Official Opening and Award Presentation on Friday 18th September at 7pm.
      Open daily 10am - 5pm except Thursday 24th 10am - 8pm. Admission is free. 
       JUDGE: Joe Penn
    • Our society is sponsoring the prize for the Chinese painting section in this exhibition – please let’s all make an effort in participating
  • The joined exhibition between the ACPS and the Australian Oriental Calligraphy Society will take place from October 31st - November 9th, 2009
    @ the Chinese Cultural Centre in Chatswood.
    All application forms have to in by 31st July 2009.
  • All those exhibiting at the Eden Garden gallery, please send all CV’s, data and details to Daisy.


Hopefully, we’ll see you all at the next meeting- get those brushes out and don’t forget to bring your “homework” for all to see!!!

After over three years in the job of Newsletter Editor, this is my very last newsletter.
