Annual General Meeting

Saturday 2nd August , 2.00pm at Will’s Quills:

Christine Winterbothom is the Election officer. All nominations for office bearers and all election matters should be referred  to Christine.

Our new member WENDY UNG, together with her teacher STUART LEUNG will give us demonstrations, followed by our usual “Show and Tell” session - please bring your latest creations for all to see.

To all those who have not yet paid the annual membership fees - a form for your renewal is attached. Please send it together with your cheque to Daisy as soon as possible. Thanks.

Items of Interest

• Our exhibition at Finks Café closed on 27th June 2008. 13 members participated, 27 paintings were hung. Barbara Markovitch sold her painting "Just Friends".

• Special “Thanks” go to:
  • Carole Burns for organising the exhibition and putting ads in the local newspapers.
    
    
  • Andrew Lo, Carole Burns, Helen Wallace, Jenny Roxburgh, Peter Leung and Daisy Hsu for hanging and taking down the paintings.
• Please continue to submit your miniature paintings in CD or DVD cases, any style and size is acceptable. If in doubt, please ask Mirra, our General Consultant.
  The last collection date will be the September painting session.

• Wendy Ung had two of her paintings auctioned for $2300.00 at a fund raising dinner for China’s and Burma’s earthquake victims. Well done.
  

Dates to put in your diaries

• 48th Ryde Art Exhibition: 19th - 26th September 2008. Entries close on 1st September 2008, forms will be available at our next meeting.
  

• Parramatta Art Show: 17th - 24th October, opening night will be Tuesday 21st
  October @ 7pm, entry forms will be available from Will’s Quills.

• Our society is sponsoring all prizes for the Chinese painting section in both exhibitions – please let’s an effort in participating.

• Carlingford Village exhibition during the October School Holidays

• The joined exhibition between the ACPS and the Australian Oriental Calligraphy Society will take place from 6th – 18th November 2008

Exhibition

Andrew Lo is having a solo exhibition entitled "Explorations: Cultural and Natural" at the Hervey Bay Regional Art Gallery in Queensland starting End of July until September. He will give talks and do workshops with artists and students. The Consul-General of the PRC will open the exhibition.

Hopefully, we’ll see you all at the next meeting- get those brushes out and don’t forget to bring your “homework” for all to see!!!
