Items of Interest
- A warm "welcome" to our new members:
Sue Jardin and QiHua Zhu (Ms) - www.arsnet.net
- Congratulations to Maggie DeCourcy for a "Highly Commended"
Award at the Drummoyne Art Show in the Small Water Colour section.
- Check out our updated webpage - a big "Thank You" to Carmel
James, who's doing all the work "behind the scene" http://www.cajo.com.au/AustChinesePaintingSociety/index.html
- Professor Hua Kui, visiting artist from China, paid our society an
impromptu visit on the 11th of April. 15 of our members were present.
He showed his paintings, talked about his work and did a demonstration.
It was interesting to observe that he rarely uses more than three colours
on any one painting and when painting, he does not need to use blotting
papers. He used the Ma Li Chinese paint in tubes, but the top grade.
Acknowledgement should be given to the following members for making
this visit a success:
- Mirra Hainsworth for notifying the members at a very short notice
- William Lai for providing the venue
- Andrew Lo for doing the translation
- Jenny Roxburgh and Carole Burns for providing transport for the
artist
- William Jiang has very kindly given the Society a copy of his book
- "A Concise Course of Chinese Calligraphy" which is written
in both English and Chinese. If you would like to borrow it, please
contact Daisy Hsu on 9452 4624 or email: dshsu@optusnet.com.au
