Volume 16 Issue 2 March 2006
A big "THANK YOU" to Mirra Hainsworth for putting together the newsletter for so many years- no doubt a lot of work - at times frustrating but I'm sure always rewarding. The new team, Andrew Lo, Daisy Hsu and myself Evelyne Zuercher
Hadfield have taken up the challenge, trying to bring you updates,
news, list of ongoing exhibitions with a Chinese theme. Our next meeting will take place on: " Theme: the modern approach of the 4 Chinese Gentlemen (orchid, bamboo, chrysanthemum, plum blossom)- please try and prepare one/ two /three paintings and bring them along- if you have any books on that subject, please bring them along as well. " All members that took part in Andrew's workshop please bring your finished "Hunter Valley Scenes" for a "show and tell" session. " A Chinese artist, from America, Ms Haiying Yang will talk about her art work and give us a short demonstration on silk paintings. You might also like to check out her website - www.yanghaiying.com " Due to the lack of funds in our society, William has kindly offered to sponsor the prize money for the Ryde and Parramatta exhibitions- however a further discussion regarding conditions of sponsorship is needed. " A big "thank you" goes to Andrew for yet another wonderful workshop- he not only gave us his time, material and his patience, but also a lot of inspiration. " A warm "welcome" to our new member, Lindy Danvers. Chinese Whispers: The art of Audrey Quigley and her pupils The Mosman Art Gallery is holding a Chinese exhibition every year as part of a cultural exchange program with their sister city in Mudanjing , China- ACPS might even get a chance to be part of it- therefore it would be good if we could be represented at the opening.
