Hua Kui is an artist from Beijing, China. He excels in Chinese painting
as well as calligraphy and seal carving. A few of us from the Society
had been to his recent exhibition in the Chatswood Cultural Centre,
some of us had also bought his books. His style of painting is Chinese
brush painting with the modern touch, lively and humorous. His calligraphy
is also lively and has his own style. His seals apparently are collectors'
items, costing approx. RMB $10 000 (A$2 000) each! He was the artist
who made the special seals for the Chinese astronauts.

His website is www.huakui.net
which has some interesting stuff.
He is a professor of fine arts at a university in China and also specialises
in teaching art to Children.
His visit will have a show and tell of his work, and a demonstration.
He is only in Australia for a short time and is very keen to meet
our members to promote the Chinese art to the western people. Hope
you will be able to come to his talk:
